A Community Campaign for Legal Trail Access in Dufferin County
For more than 10 years, the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders (OFTR) and the Dufferin Rooftop Recreational Riders Association (DRRRA) have been working to create legal, responsible off-road motorcycle riding opportunities in Dufferin County.
Throughout that time, we have approached the County with solutions—not demands.
We have offered volunteers.
We have offered trail stewardship.
We have offered education.
We have offered to carry $15 million in liability insurance.
We have offered to help build and maintain the trails ourselves.
We have never asked Dufferin County to pay for our recreation.
Instead, we have simply asked for the opportunity to work together to create legal places to ride that protect the environment, support local businesses, reduce trespassing, and provide families with safe and responsible recreational opportunities.
Unfortunately, after more than a decade, our request has once again been denied.
We believe it is time for a different conversation.
This campaign is about bringing together residents, businesses, families, riders, and community leaders who believe responsible off-road motorcyclists deserve the same opportunity to enjoy public lands as other recreational users.
Our Goals
Work collaboratively with Dufferin County.
Create legal and sustainable places to ride.
Keep recreation and tourism dollars in Dufferin County.
Support local businesses and rural communities.
Reduce illegal riding by providing legal alternatives.
Promote responsible riding, environmental stewardship, and rider education.
Ensure off-road motorcyclists have a seat at the table when recreation decisions are made.

Together, we can show that Dufferin County is ready for a collaborative approach that balances environmental stewardship with responsible outdoor recreation.
About the Ontario Federation of Trail Riders (OFTR)
The Ontario Federation of Trail Riders is a non-profit organization representing nearly 6,000 members through 13 clubs across Ontario. For more than 30 years, the OFTR has worked with municipalities, landowners, conservation authorities, volunteers, and government agencies to create and maintain sustainable trail systems.
The OFTR is committed to responsible recreation through trail stewardship, rider education, volunteer trail maintenance, advocacy, and community partnerships. The organization carries $15 million in liability insurance to help protect participating municipalities and landowners while supporting legal trail networks across Ontario.
About the Dufferin Rooftop Recreational Riders Association (DRRRA)
The Dufferin Rooftop Recreational Riders Association is the OFTR's local club serving Dufferin County.
DRRRA is made up of local riders, volunteers, families, and community members who are committed to creating legal, sustainable riding opportunities close to home. Our members believe education, stewardship, respect for private property, and environmental responsibility are the foundation of a successful trail system.
Our volunteers are ready to donate their time and expertise to help build, maintain, and steward trails that future generations can enjoy responsibly.
After more than 10 years, we believe it's time to move beyond "no" and start working together toward a solution.
